Company History

The Böker company is located in Solingen, Germany, and has been producing high quality cutlery since 1869. Even though history has had a huge impact on the company, Böker has stood the test of time and continues to this day with their passion and enthusiasm for crafting great knives.

Boker (properly spelled Böker) has deep roots in 17th century Germany when they were a tool manufacturer. In the 1800′s, the company had changed course and started specializing in swords and blades. SUpposedly, Boker was outputting around 2000 sabers per week that were used in various wars going on in those times.

A Split in the Company

in the 1860′s, one side of the family immigrated to North America and set up shop in New York, Canada, and Mexico. Both the German and the North American factories produced very similar knives and they both bore the Böker name and now famous tree logo. This split lasted all the way up until World War II, when the German factory was destroyed and Boker USA became the sole user of the Böker name and tree logo. In the 1950′s however, the German factory was rebuilt and resumed production and use of the trademark. Then in the 1960′s through the 1970′s, the company changed hands a few times, leading up to 1983 – when the New York factory shut down. Then in 1986, Boker USA was started up again in Denver Colorado and has been there since.

Boker Produces Many Types of Blades

Many people are aware that Boker produces high quality pocket knives, but they also produce other types of cutlery such as hunting knives, tactical knives, kitchen cutlery, straight razors, and collector’s knives.
